POSTGRADUATE PROGRAM IN DEVELOPMENT AND ENVIRONMENT (DOCTORAL COURSE IN FULL NETWORK ASSOCIATION - PRODEMA)

The Postgraduate Program in Development and Environment of the Federal University of Sergipe, which is part of a network called PRODEMA, in which the Federal Universities of Ceará (UFC), Piauí (UFPI), Paraíba (UFPB), Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), Pernambuco (UFPE) and the State University of Santa Cruz / BA (UESC) are based on the production of knowledge on an interdisciplinary keystone, focused on sustainable development in the context of the Northeast of Brazil. The development model still predominant in the region is characterized by the degradation of natural resources, of its culture and  its social conditions. It is necessary to formulate and establish developmental strategies based on technological innovations, alternatives and other ways of management of natural and the cultural heritage of the Northeast region of Brazil. Thus, PRODEMA´S doctoral proposal is based on the interdisciplinary matrix of critical thinking  and systemics approaches, aiming to contribute to the construction of an attentive development of the regional needs, which seeks to meet the needs of people and innovative methodologies or adapted ones to meet regional needs in the field of development in the environment). The course is made up of a concentration area in Development and Environment and presents three lines of research: Relations of Society- Nature and Sustainability; Planning, Management and Socio-environmental Policies; Technologies for Sustainable Development.
