Presentation
The Postgraduate Program in Geography was created in 1983 with the course entitled
Geography of Agriculture. In 1985, the first Master’s course in Geography of
Universidade Federal de Sergipe was implemented, with the following concentration
area: “The Organization of Rural Areas in the Developing World”. In 2001, the program
had its concentration area changed to “Organization and Dynamics of Agrarian and
Regional Space”, with the objective of increasing the focus on research and to
contribute to the production of geographical knowledge. The Doctorate began in 2003,
providing students from the different regions in Brazil with opportunities to deal with
theoretical and practical references in Geography. Our objective is to analyze themes
that are inherent to the production of the geographical space, developing a concept of
Geography that is geared towards the understanding of reality in different geographic
scales.
