The Postgraduate Program in Nursing at the Federal University of Sergipe (PPGEN) is the first and only program in the state to offer the Academic Master's degree in Nursing. PPGEN began in 2013 and, since its creation, has awarded around 20 master's degrees, of which two are pursuing a doctorate. Currently, the Program has 40 students regularly enrolled (2024). 01 FAPITEC scholarship holder; 01 CNPq Fellow and 13 CAPES Fellows.

MISSION

The mission of PPGEN is to train nurses to produce scientific knowledge, as well as to train and improve these professionals for higher education, generating transformations in health and nursing care and management policies and practices. It focuses on current problems of health care and management that affect the individual, the family, and the community.

 

OBJECTIVE

To meet its mission, PPGEN aims to:

  • Deepen the competence acquired in undergraduate courses, developing mastery of research techniques in the field of Nursing and related areas;
  • Promote the strengthening of local, regional and national potential for comprehensive training, acquisition and development of technical-scientific skills in Nursing and related areas.

 

EGRESSO'S PROFILE

 The scientific and professional skills and competencies that characterize the expected profile of graduates from the Academic Master's in Nursing course at the Federal University of Sergipe are:To access knowledge sources in a systematic way:

  • Access sources of knowledge in a systematic way;
    Delimit research problems;
    Identify the state of the art, gaps and trends in knowledge in the area;
    Analyze scientific methods and ethical aspects of studies;
    Critically interpret research designs and results;
    Prepare course plans and lesson plans;
    Guide undergraduate students in scientific initiation and course completion work.

Theoretical/philosophical foundations of care in nursing and health, with a view to optimizing care. Models and technologies for care management. Public policies in the context of the SUS in various population groups.

 

RESEARCH LINES

MANAGEMENT AND CARE IN THE CONTEXT OF SUS AND HEALTH AND NURSING POLICIES

Research aimed at management and nursing care provided to individuals in social groups, in the field of knowledge and health practices at different levels of individual and collective care. It understands health as a social phenomenon, of public interest, in which there should be no inseparability between the clinic, epidemiology and the human and social sciences. Investigate health and nursing management processes, aimed at meeting the health needs of population groups for the consolidation of the Unified Health System.

 

THEORETICAL MODELS AND TECHNOLOGIES IN NURSING FOR THE CARE OF INDIVIDUALS AND SOCIAL GROUPS

 Studies on the philosophical foundations, theories and concepts that guide the different dimensions of nursing care; the development and use of methods, processes and technologies for the implementation of nursing care in the health/illness process in the life cycle, at an individual and collective level.

 

PRE-CLINICAL, CLINICAL, EPIDEMIOLOGICAL AND TRANSLATIONAL STUDIES IN HEALTHCARE

Estudos visando à análise de eventos e determinantes da saúde na população em diferentesfases do ciclo vital; investigação da eficácia e da efetividade de intervençõespreventivas e terapêuticas; promoção da transferência de resultados de pesquisabásica para pesquisa clínica, a fim de produzir benefícios para a sociedade.
