The Postgraduate Program in Water Resources (PRORH) at the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS) began its activities in 2012 and, despite its short time since its establishment, has been gaining recognition (locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally) in the education of highly qualified human resources in the broad field of Engineering for teaching, basic and applied research, and meeting the demands of the job market, specifically in the area of Water Resources. Professionals who graduate from PRORH will comprehensively understand issues directly and indirectly related to water and its management. They will be able to integrate teaching, research, and outreach in their professional activities to investigate relevant problems for the development of Water Resources within the area and the social context in which they are embedded.
It is also important to highlight that PRORH aims to contribute to municipal, state, and national development through its social engagement and the professional performance of its graduates, as well as through the organization and participation in scientific meetings, the collaboration of faculty, students, and alums in the development of public documents aimed at planning and managing Water Resources.
PRORH has a rating of 3 and has accredited Ph.D. faculty members to act as supervising professors in three main research lines, in line with the program's training objectives: Water in agriculture, Climate and water resources, and Planning and management of water.
The strategic planning of PRORH considers the Normative Instruction No. 02/2020/POSGRAP. It includes medium and long-term goals and objectives that substantively contribute to the self-assessment process, aiming to strengthen existing connections, improve ongoing actions, as well as move forward towards other directions, mainly aiming to:
Optimize student education;
Improve technical and scientific production, strengthening the teaching and research network to address social, environmental, and economic demands;
Strengthen and expand international actions by interacting with companies and other countries' researchers.
The admission of students is carried out annually through a student selection announcement.
